Feeling Scrappy Part 2

I combined a couple of challenges in this layout. I layered multiple flowers, I painted the chipboard and stamped swirls on it and I colored flowers using my ink pads. I love this layout!

This is my first graduation challenge using three of the techniques I learned in the class. I used brads as bullets, glitter on the flowers and a chipboard word in my journaling.

This is my second graduation challenge. I had to scraplift a design team member's layout.

I really enjoyed this class! It really challenged me. Since it ended on May 31, I haven't scrapped. Hopefully once we get on a summer routine, I'll be able to get back in my closet....

Embellish It! Part one

I just took an awesome online scrapping class at Feelingscrappy.com. It was so amazing and Jayne and her design team ROCKED! I was skeptical of taking a class during the last month of school. I wasn't for sure if I would have the time or energy to participate. Once the class began, I was hooked! The assignments and tid-bits blew me away! This site was the first site I browsed on any given day in May. (and on some days, the only site I browsed that day!) The first five pages took me 5-6 hours to complete. When I do not scrap in a while, it takes time to get my creativity flowing again! It frustrated me, but I persevered and it paid off. Here are a couple of challenges I completed. Tomorrow I will post the last challenge and graduation. Enjoy! (click on the picture for enhancement)

My first challenge involved stickers. The assisnment I choose was to use word stickers in place of my own words in my journaling. This was a first for me!

My second assignmnet was to use old ABC letters in a shape or in the background. (I did this page when the schools shut down for severe weather. I wasn't scared!)

This assignment I had to cover the brads with either paint, stickers or rubons. I used Love,Elsie stickers to cover the large brad on the flower and the put a lady bug on the bard on the exclamation point.

With this assingment, there were many firsts. I needed to use glitter on the page. I sprayed glitter on the flowers. I never thought to use glitter before, so I'm thankful I tried it! It was the first time I used the red felt pattern behind the title and was excited it went well with the page. I also mrked my won journaling lines. I didn't get the look I was going for, but it's good for now.

My New Cricut Expressions is Here!

Posted by Picasa

I finally ordered my big Cricut last week and it came yesterday. I was so excited that Rachel informed me of a cricut bundle with four cartridges instead of one so I couldn't afford to pass up this deal. I now have the tool to cut out endless possibilities of letters and diecuts for the rest of my scrappin' life. I now need to figure out how to work it and get the software program to be able to connect any of my letters on the eight cartridges I have together to create a mesh. I now have this new toy along with my Adobe Photo Elelmets 6.0 to figure out. I will have the time when school is out to mess around with both. I have been eagerly working on building my scrappin' supply with tools that will save me money in the future. I do look forward to using my new items to enhance my scrappin' capabilities!

ps-I have been scrappin' and hopefully will have the time soon to post my creations. IF not, when school is out in 7 days I will for sure!

Legacy of Faith #7

Here is my Legacy of Faith challenge. I actually came up with the challenge by mistake. I got it in my head that one of the challenges was about journaling. Come to find out, one of the challenges talked about journaling, but it wan't the focus, so I was able to create a challenge about persoanl journaling. I ablsolutely love to journal. I may not be creative, but give me a pen and a peice of paper and I'll write all day long. I wnat to give a "shout-out" to my dad who made me, I mean taught me how to journal at a young age. Thanks Dad! I love you!

Legacy of Faith Challenge

Posted by Picasa

I am participating in a challenge called "Legacy of Faith" where you scrapbook you faith and religion. I would have never of thought about scrappin' my testimony or even any spiritual experiences to that matter. I do however record many things in this nature in my journal and also my children's journal. It is this challenge that is bringing me back into the scrappin' mood. What a wonderful challenge to create an album of your testimony and how the Lord has His hand in our daily lives. It will truely be a legacy of faith for my children and my posterity. Altered French Fry Box

I went to a Stampin' Up party this month and learned how to make this little fry box. I used a Wendy's french fry box as the template. I traced it and them folded it accordinly and then stamped on the bottoms of both sides. I was so proud of myself! I really suprised myself for taking the time to make something that will probably be thrown in the trash after the "goods" were eaten. They turned out so cute! I will be making more of these in the future.

Making cards with Mom

My cards.

mom's cards

The fruits of our labor!

Mom and I made cards on Saturday. We had the livingroom full of all of our supplies and we only used four sheets of 12x12 paper, brads and flowers for embellishments. Mom already had the cards cut out and folded so all we had to do is decorate them. It was so easy using "designer" paper. We didn't use one stamp on any of the 24 cards we made. I used two 12x12 "love, elsie" papers and made several cards. We spent about an hour and a half making the cards. We had so much fun!

It's Back!

The last couple of weeks, I have been thinking about scrappin' but not doing anything. Tuesday night, I decided it was time. I had seen a mini-scrapbook album made out of brown paper lunch bags last month and decided to make Sadie one. It turned out decent. Wen I get my flash card back from my mom's house, I'll post some pix of it. Last night, I worked six hours on a project for my mom. I cannot go into detail, but I am very excited about it! I can't wait to be done in the next couple of days so that I can give it to her and post pix of it! So, by the weekend, I should have some pictures! YEAH! It's back! My creative jitters are flowing! And you should see the livingroom floor/couch! I can testify that I am not in my closet on this project! George is ready for me to be done!

No Time

There just hasn't been anytime lately to get any scappin' done. I think about it, but unfortunately, thinking doesn't scrap itself. Hopefully the near future will have scrap time in its agenda.

Thrill of the Kill

I can honestly say that I enjoy buying scrapbook supplies more than I enjoy scrappin' with them. The "thrill of the kill" of buying the supplies is exciting and doesn't take much brain power, unlike all the decisions that go into creating a layout. So this layout is dedicated to all the scrapbooking supplies in the stores that I haven't yet bought or haven't got the money to buy!

Another one bites the dust!

This layout took me forever to finish! It was either this LO or me that was about to bite the dust! It feels so good to have it completed. One more down for my yearly goal of 300! Please double click on the picture (any picture) to make it bigger so that you can read the journal strips.

Love, Elsie & Stampin' Up Party

I went to Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon and came out with a great find, a 120 pack of Love, Elsie paper! I love this line of paper. It is sorda geared toward teenagers and that is what I scrap about! I was so excited to find this and only pay $12.00 for the pack.

Saturday, Rachel had invited me to go to her Stampin' Up party. Cay had called me and I invited her to come too. We had the best time! I hadn't been to a stampin' party in forever and it was so nice to get away from kids and hang out and talk about our disease. It was alot of fun. Kim Mayfield was the demonstrator and she was awesome. She knows what she's doing in the stampin' department. If you need some Stampin' Up, I can hook you up!

Web cams for inspiration

I have read several blogs where inspiration is nowhere in sight. By reading that, it has jinxed my inspiration! I am 3/4 way done with a layout and then I went blank. Even though I absolutely love scrappin in my closet, it's just not the same as getting together and scrappin with friends and sharing ideas with each other. If we can't get together, then I recommend that we all get web cams for the purpose of sharing inspiration. What do you say? Because I sure needed some last night!

I'm a Feelin Scrappy Challenge Winner!

I participated in one event Sunday and the one layout was good enough to win a stamp! I was shocked and was feeled with emotions. I would now like to read my acception speech: I want to thank my mom for giving me birth, my huband for supporting my disease and CM who got me going into scrapbooking and to Rachel Ricks, and that one phone call that changed my scrappin life. You opened a whole new world to me and I'll always be appreciative to you for that and all the days we just sit around and yak about scrappin. Thanks for giving me the confidence I needed to post my first of many pages on Feelin Scrappy. And for Feeling Scrappy, you rock!

The winning page is below: Catchin' Nothin'

Cleaning the closet

After I did my cleaning, it was time to move on to my scrapbooking closet. I had let it slide recently. I really need more space, but I should be happy to have a closet! Since I have been sick, I hav'e gotten much use out of it this week. Hopefully that will change quickly this weekend. Anytime I clean a room or area, it is a area that I enjoy to be in. This is the cleanest I have had my closet in a while and hopefully it will bring me the inspiration I need . if not, I'll mess it up as I know I can produce great pages ina messy closet!

Under the influence of pnuemonia

This page came out pretty good! I love the colors and used three different cricut cartridges for the letters and embellishments. I really do love my home in Alabama the Beautiful. It's where my roots run deep.

Advice Needed

As most of you know, I use Creative Memory albums and I am also coming home to be a full-time homemaker at the end of this school year. This poses a problem. I have about 100 pages that I need to put in an album, but can I afford CM albums? One album cost $38.00 plus tax that includes only 15 pages and I'll need at least 2-3 more page refills along with 3 page protector packets. Right now, I need at least three albums. Now that gets expensive! I am realy scared to change as I already have over $1000.00 invested in CM albums. The reason why I went with CM albums is because they compliment each other so well. I love the neatness of them and all the wonderful colors they have. I love them. If I change, what do I use? What are my options? Is this a good time to go digital? Maybe buy albums with tax return? I am desparate!

I hit the Jackpot!

Rachel called me Wednesday night to tell me she had just returned from Hobby Lobby and they had two cricut cartridges on clearance for $35.99 and that I needed to check it out. These bad boys are $59.99 at the Lobby and the same ones cost $89.99 at Michael's. What a fantastic deal! I couldn't wait to head straight to the Lobby after school in hopes of hitting the jackpot. As I entered the Lobby, my heart began to pound and I became anxious. I had no idea if I was wasting my time or getting lucky. I went straight to the cricut center and I looked. I didn't see any clearance signs on any cartridges. I did see some empty spaces and decided to ask a clerk. She directed me right to the cartridges that were on clearance. There were three left of each of these cartridges. I hit the jackpot! When I left, there were only two left of each! I had the intention of buying only one, but look at the savings! I spent my allowance for a month in two minutes. I have four cartridges now and they sure will come in handy when the money runs dry in a few more months. A special "shoutout" to Rachel for her sharing with me this awesome find. Next up for the cricket is the design software to mesh the letters together. This machine has endless posibilities. What a great investment to a scrapbook junkie like me!

My Challenge Reward

In Novemeber, my scrapbooking friends (Rachel, Amy and Amy)and I made a deal that we would not buy any supplies until we completed 50 pages by Dec. 21. We had just walked out of Hobby Lobby and was feeling buyer's remorse when we made this challenge. I have to admit, I did buy a couple of supplies along with tape after 38 pages were completed. (Come to find out, I wasn't the only cheat!) It took real effort to come up with ideas based on the supplies I had at home. I did struggle with the last 12 pages and even took time out to paint the livingroom and hallway to just to give myself a break. Luckily, I was able to finish the twelve. I was very proud of myself. My husband gave me $100.00 to buy two cricut cartridges for Christmas and my birthday, but instead, I bought one cartridge and spent the rest on scrapbooking supplies. I was one happy camper! Now, I need to set another challenge so that I will use all of the new supplies!

The challenge was to use blue and brown on the page. Not sure if the blue in the picture counts, but it counts as another page complete!

This is the page I just blogged about. I finished it last night because I really didn't want to throw it away! I really like it.

Page Incomplete

I have been working on a layout for just over two weeks now. All I have to do is the journaling. It took me a week just to glue on four letters and I did that at church last Wednesday night! I sit down and try to work on it but household and mother duties call me away from my closet. I do not mind my motherly duties. I just happened to notice how long it is taking me to complete this layout. Everytime I think about the page, I am either not at home, in the middle of something or I do not have enough time to even get started. Hopefully I can get this page done by Friday night. If I don't, I'm going to throw it in the trash!

It feels great!

It feels great to be able to create a layout without "stupor of thought". The first layout I did is with Forrest wrapped in his camo blanket I made him last Christmas. he has to snatch it from me because I absolutely love it! The second layout was of a picture I took of Joseph and Hyrum Smith this past summer in Nauvoo. They are truely heroes of mine forever.
